History
Scottish Baronial in style, the Grade A listed Aldourie Castle was first recorded in the 17th Century as a mansion house and was later extended in 1903. Aldourie belonged to the same family for 250 years until it was bought privately in 2004 (for which there were numerous bidders including Madonna!) then underwent a £10 million development consequently winning Sotherby's UK Restoration of the Year award. Since its restoration the Castle has welcomed a variety of guests from royalty to rock stars. Complete with hidden doors, family portraits and grand fireplaces Aldourie is exactly how a Scottish historic castle should be.

Bedrooms and rooms / description
Tradition, opulence, classic style and comfort can be found at Aldourie Castle. Each interior has an historical charm but every facility belongs firmly in the 21st Century. The Castle sleeps 28 guests in 13 luxurious bedrooms with en suite or private bathroom. From grand four-posters to cosy sleigh beds, each bedroom is individually themed from lavish glamour to classic simplicity. For parties larger than this additional luxury accommodation is available in the four cottages on the estate (for 21 people).

The Main Hall at Aldourie is adorned with wonderful Scottish portraits and is the central part of the Castle, which leads off into the Library and Drawing Room to the left and the Dining Rooms and Billiard Room to the right. Various spiral staircases lead up to the first and second floors complete with individually designed bedrooms, bathrooms and en suites. Beautiful items of furniture decorate the large window areas and hallways, complementing the architecture of the building, while fine Scottish antiques and paintings complete the interior telling a story of the castle and offering an historical detour for guests.

The enchanting Red Drawing Room features a beautiful Venetian Murano Crystal chandelier that casts a cosy evening light for pre or after-dinner drinks. The Dining room features a magnificent long table for hosting evening receptions with views across the tree-dotted estate while a more intimate breakfast room is located at the back of the castle looking out over the shores of Loch Ness. An elevated terrace area offers stunning views across the Highlands.

The Castle offers a range of catering options depending on your party's requirements from traditional Scottish breakfasts to afternoon Tea, simple cosy suppers to grand gourmet dinners and even BBQs on the terrace to a pre-packed picnic to enjoy on Dores Beach.

Facilities and entertainment
House staff can concierge any activity or transport request during your exclusive stay and there are a various areas of interest to be enjoyed in and around the Aldourie Estate, ranging from wildlife spotting to experiencing your own version of the Highland Games. Guests can wander freely around the estate exploring the many woodland walks (the Castle provides wellingtons and anoraks in every size), a unique man-made tree house and an immaculate formal garden. There is even a discreet family graveyard for guests interested in the Castle's heritage. Inside the Castle is a dedicated games room which features a full size billiard table, wide screen wall-mounted plasma TV and numerous board games. Excellent Wi-Fi is available throughout the Castle. Sporting activities on the estate include boat trips, treasure hunts, croquet, kiting, cycling ,fishing and staff can organise indoor or outdoor activities for guests from musical entertainment in the Main Hall to clay pigeon shooting in the parkland.
